Bindu — The Point of All Beginnings

Bindu means point. Seed. Source.

But it means something much bigger than a mark on paper.

Bindu is the idea that everything — every pattern, every galaxy, every thought, every mandala you have ever drawn — began as a single point of concentrated potential.

In the yogic tradition, this point is called the Bindu Visarga — the point of origin, and just as importantly, the point of release. The place where something begins, and the place from which it lets go into form.

Look at a Seed

A seed looks like nothing. A dot of matter, sitting quietly in the soil.

But inside it — an entire tree is already waiting.
Roots, branches, leaves, fruit. All of it, folded into a point.

You don't see the tree when you look at the seed. But the tree is already there, waiting for its moment to unfold.

Look at Your Own Life

Every relationship you have ever built began as a single moment.
A conversation. A glance. A decision to say yes.

Every skill you now carry began the same way — the first time you picked up a brush, the first time you sat down to try.

Every habit, good or difficult, started as one small, repeated choice.

A single decision. A single dot in time.
That is all it ever takes to begin something that grows for years.

Why the First Mark Is Always a Dot

This is why in every sacred geometry tradition — the Sri Yantra, the mandalas of Tibet, the rangoli drawn at your doorstep every morning — the first mark is always a dot.

Not a line. Not a shape. A single, still point.

Everything else — every ring, every petal, every layer of colour — grows outward from that one place.

Not Because It's Easy. Because It's Honest.

Starting with a dot is not the easy way to begin. It would feel more reassuring to have the whole design mapped out first — every ring planned, every petal counted, nothing left to chance.

But the dot is honest.

You didn't need the whole mandala planned out.
You just needed the dot.

Wherever You Are Beginning Something

Maybe it's a mandala practice. Maybe it's healing from something. Maybe it's a skill, a relationship, a version of yourself you're still becoming.

You don't need to see the whole tree today.
You don't need the finished pattern in front of you before you're allowed to start.

You just need one honest point — and the willingness to let it unfold.
